About a month ago, the Visayas region of the Philippines was devastated by typhoon Haiyan, displacing millions of people from their homes and losing thousands of lives. Aid was quick to arrive especially from foreign countries but as Filipinos, a couple of wedding suppliers felt the need to still help. In these kind of situations, every form of assistance is greatly appreciated. That’s how the Inspire Initiative was formed and we’re very thankful to be invited as one of the photographers who’ll be part of the fund raising event.
Basically, the concept was an engagement session marathon where twenty photographers will be taking photos of twenty couples who’ll be paying a certain fee for the event. The accumulated amount will serve as the donation to help the victims of the typhoon. We were each given 15 minutes for every couple and I must say it was a challenging yet fulfilling experience to have a lot of photos given the limited time.
It was an incredible scene to see competing wedding suppliers as a unit for one cause. From the best make up-artists, stylists and designers to the top wedding photographers and videographers, it was probably a day that won’t happen again anytime soon. I felt honored to be included in this event but what felt better was the fact of giving a hand to those in need using the gifts that we have.
